The signs and symptoms of thrush are going to depend on the location of the thrush infection.
On skin thrush will appear as a red rash. The rash is itchy, red and very tender. Skin thrush can be found under folds of skin. Babies are very prone to skin thrush.
Diaper rash or nappy rash is the most common type of yeast infection or baby’s thrush.
A woman’s signs and symptoms of vaginal thrush will include itching and burning in the vaginal area. There is often a vaginal discharge, which is whitish yellow and has a cheesy appearance. Women often complain of pain during sexual relations as the thrush causes raw spots in the vagina.
In male thrush infections there is also itching and burning of the genitals. Occasionally there is yellowish discharge under the foreskin. With the irritation of the thrush infection the foreskin can become extremely tender and sore.
Oral or mouth thrush appears as patches of white on the gums or tongue. Some people describe the patches as curd-like or cheesy. When the white material is scraped off the patches, there is a red raw sore underneath.
