A STD or sexually transmitted disease or STI a sexually transmitted infection is as the name says an infection or disease passed person to person through sexual relations. According to official medical definitions, thrush is not called a sexually transmitted infection or a STD.

Because yeast or Candida is in the body’s normal system it’s not passed for person to person.

So if you want to have an absolutely strict book definition thrush is not an infection. But in the everyday reality of life, yeast can be passed back and forth between partners in sexual relations.

Is it a common or usual way of getting a thrush infection? No. But does it happen? Yes.
